Sherlock and Watson

How can my baby boy be 16?  He got his learner's permit this week!  For his birthday he wanted to have a movie themed gathering with a few friends.  His best bud dressed up as Watson, the two make a dreamy pair!

His favorite time period is the 1800's.  That vest was number one on his birthday list.
A couple cohorts are working on a film together.  They had a brief pow-wow before the gathering.

Not everyone dressed up.  Some just came as themselves.

I know, the one in the middle...now that is a sad version of Anne of Green Gables that I ever did see!

She really is increda-girl!

Hubby said he felt a bit bloated at the party...

Such dear, dear friends he is blessed with.  She made her dress, so she came as Elizabeth from Pride and Prejudice.  Katie also MADE him a signet press that she burned in wood herself.  HELLO!  She knows Douglas so well!

Cream soda, they all love cream soda!

1 John 4:7
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

Happy Birthday Son,
Your Mama

Beauty

Stepping out of my box of agenda's and to-do lists I walked outside to take-in the view that surrounds me.  Day in and day out I walk past the same things sometimes taking notice of them and other times never 'seeing' them because of my hurriedness.  So to grab my camera and just snap shots for no other reason than to capture their beauty is refreshing and nourishing to my soul.  God has created beauty, true beauty for us to behold.

Our pear tree has a bunch of baby pears ballooning all over the tree.

My single greatest pleasure these past few weeks has been a blue bird that nested in our bird house for the first time ever!  We have had this vacant bird house for years, but this year HE came.  Oh, he is so beautiful!  He is so blue, it is like a tropical fish blue.  His feathers have a purple undertone to them and he takes my breath away every time he sweeps by.

Also on our front porch a family of robins raised their little family on top of my wreath.

For The Beauty Of The Earth

For the beauty of the earth,
For the beauty of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our grateful hymn of praise.

For the beauty of each hour
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale, and tree and flower,
Sun and moon and stars of light,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our grateful hymn of praise.

For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth, and friends above,
Pleasures pure and undefiled,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our grateful hymn of praise.

For each perfect gift of thine,
To our race so freely given,
Graces human and divine,
Flowers of earth and buds of heaven,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our grateful hymn of praise.

For thy Church which evermore
Lifteth holy hands above,
Offering up on every shore
Her pure sacrifice of love,
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our grateful hymn of praise.

Coram Deo,
E.W.

Field Day

Blue team on field day.  It was the best weather we ever had, it is usually a thousand gazillion degrees!

It is far more fun to watch the faces of kids playing tug-o-war, they are hilarious.

Relay race...twirl the soaked mop around your head as you run up and down the field, it is akin to patting your stomach and rubbing your head.

 Super Soaker Sack races.

Oreos... don't leave home without them!

This wonder chick is our class mascot.  She has come through more surgeries by the grace of God Almighty.  She is a walking miracle!

Seeing her sit is like a rare glimpse of a hummingbird that quickly passes you by.
Our field day is a water park without the admission fee.
I am in love!  Look at his slicked back hair.  Look at those cheeks.  Oh he is dreamy!!

I don't even know who he belongs to, but he is the future Captain America, I am sure of it!

100 points for the orange gerber daisy in the hat Melissa.
The last event of the day is always a surprise for the teachers.  This year the quest was to snag the donut off the string.  There is no glamorous way to capture a picture of this...
So, I will leave it at that!
