Learning to be a Woman

I am doing a fantastic bible study right now.  We are using the book Learning to be a Woman by Kenneth G.Smith.  When I first heard the title I was not real excited because...well, let's face it, I have been at this woman thang my whole life!  What in the world could it possible reveal to me?  So I am eating some delicious humble pie right now and I am good with that!  Things about my thinking and feeling and ideas have been coming out of the wood works!  I am learning a lot about how I got to thinking how I think!  The influences that the culture/media/books/relationships has shaped me into who I am.  Best part of the book is lining it up with God's Word and really focusing on His ways for me.  Here is an excerpt from one of the chapters:

"In summary, a woman becomes a woman as she learns about her feelings and how to express and control them.. In Christ she is given the Holy Spirit who in turn gives a proper sense of well-being characterized by holiness.  The expression of emotion depends, therefore, on whether the Holy Spirit has given it or whether Satan has provoked it.  The Christian woman thus seeks to discipline herself under the Holy Spirit's control and to resist Satan with his self-critical attacks.  The Christian woman acts on what God says, whether she feels like it or not.  Obedience leads to happiness."

'You must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them...' 2 Timothy 3:14

Growing more everyday,
E.W.

Thanks for this little blurb about this book. It was suggested to me and I also need to eat quite a bit of humble pie, so I'll be buying the book now and preparing for my meal. ;) hugs,
